IES Inca is a high school that teaches secondary education and prepares students to pass their A-levels exams. The name IES Inca is new, since the school year 2019-2020 has been the first year the high school has separated from the school that teaches different vocational training programs. There are 8 groups of 7th grade, 6 groups of 8th grade, 5 groups of 9th grade and 5 groups of 10th grade. These groups are obligatory secondary education and there are 452 students. Furthermore, we teach non-obligatory secondary education (11th and 12th grade). The modalities taught include science, social sciences and humanities. These upper levels are studied by 80 students. The school has 65 teachers.
The main aim to join this project is the need we have recognised in teaching students in ecology, sustainability and environmental studies. It is time that we show them the importance of caring for a world we all share. We need to show them that we are part of a big community, which is Europe, and that we have common objectives and the same problems. Consequently, they must understand that we must work together to get that common objective: protecting and saving the environment, improving the resources and managing them appropriately.
IES Inca, previous IES Pau Casesnoves, has a lot of experience in Erasmus+ projects, exchange programs and project work, which also focuses more often than not on environmental science. The Erasmus+ coordinator has been the same for 2 years now, and takes part in different formations organised by the national agency. Moreover, IES Pau Casesnoves also participated in the previous Comenius program as well.
